The Accountability Project's mission is to advance criminal justice reform using technology and early intervention methods. To that end, they created the first prototype of ACET Checkin, a platform that makes it easier to verify and track attendance for individuals previously incarcerated or who are in diversion programs.
As the system became more complex over the years, The Accountability Project looked to Levra Labs for technical support to revamp the app's infrastructure, improve platform reliability and robustness, and add new product features that would further their social mission.
We worked with The Accountability Project to completely rebuild ACET Checkin's iOS app and Android app using modern coding frameworks. We also built new product features into ACET Checkin's desktop app based on user requests.
Throughout this process, we met with outside stakeholders and potential clients to understand their needs and brainstorm new ways to integrate ACET Checkin into different criminal justice use cases.
In order to resolve dependency issues and facilitate a cleaner deployment process to the iOS and Android app stores, we rebuilt both mobile apps in React Native and simplified the app's technical infrastructure to minimize errors and improve ease of debugging.
Our frequent check-ins and meetings with ACET Checkin users yield many feature requests and important insights about how the app is used. We quickly scoped, designed, implemented, and released these features for our users to enjoy.
To monitor real-time application performance and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner, we set up comprehensive logging, warnings, and alerts for the ACET Checkin platform.
We manually upgraded code dependencies to the latest version while replacing deprecated libraries with newer alternatives in order to preserve the security and function of the ACET Checkin platform.
The new ACET Checkin mobile apps went live on the Apple App store and Google Play Store in late 2024.
As the Accountability Project continues to expand its client base, ACET Checkin continues to evolve based on user feedback and market needs.
ACET Checkin is a digital platform that uses rotating QR codes to track attendance in real-time. The desktop site paired with the mobile app allows administrators to view which participants check in to scheduled appointments and intervene early to ensure that participants are set up for success.
