The Challenge

Artura.org is the world's first free online database of diverse contemporary art. After developing the first prototype of Artura.org, Brandywine Workshop and Archives was looking for a sleeker redesign and a brand-new mobile app.

Levra Labs worked with Being Design to give Artura.org a visual facelift, allow for greater mobile accessibility, and elevate the overall browsing experience for art professionals, students, and educators alike.

The Process

Over the course of eight months, we worked closely with Being Design and Brandywine Workshop and Archives to design, build, and launch a more modern interface for Artura.org on both desktop and mobile devices.

We met on a weekly basis to showcase progress updates, troubleshoot development issues, and ensure that Artura.org truly served the needs of its target users.

The Details

User Interface Design

Inspired by Spotify, Apple Music, and IMDB, we crafted a clean, intuitive, device-responsive interface to create an enjoyable browsing experience for our users across devices.

Data Reorganization

Our goal was to make it easy and fast for a user to find what they needed on Artura.org. The solution was to clean up deprecated metadata and standardize data labels across artworks, artists, exhibitions, and collections.

Personalization Features

To allow users to curate their own art collections and save their favorites, we set up a new  backend system and new API endpoints to handle user account management and authentication.

Mobile App Development

To ensure that users could easily explore Artura.org on all devices, we developed a new mobile application for both iOS and Android users.

The Result

The new Artura.org site and mobile app were finished and deployed in late 2024. The official launch will take place in 2025.

The first free online database for contemporary diverse art

Artura.org allows educators, students, and art professionals to easily discover, study, and explore artworks made by diverse and contemporary artists. The platform now allows users to browse art by heritage, save their favorite artworks, and explore different art collections on both desktop and mobile devices.
