EmpathED is a Public Benefit Corporation that strives to build more empathetic and effective interactions between educators and students with disabilities, neurodiversity, and mental health diagnoses. Their online 3D platform mimics a real classroom setting and provides an immersive experience for educators who are undergoing their training program. As they gained traction, EmpathED was looking for more technical support to ensure that the platform would remain scalable and flexible.
EmpathED hired Levra Labs as a technical consultant to build a more robust authentication framework, streamline the certificate generation workflow, and improve the ease of onboarding larger organizations so that more teachers and educators can gain access to this immersive, educational experience.
Our first step was to do a deep dive into their existing system infrastructure. From there, we brainstormed different ways to integrate a new authentication workflow and provide a scalable foundation for the app as new users signed up for the platform.
Over the course of a few months, we worked closely with EmpathED to migrate their existing app to a more flexible, scalable framework that would support greater traffic and a more streamlined onboarding process.
As EmpathED expanded its client base, we modified the platform's backend and frontend architecture to support account creation and a new onboarding workflow for users, ensuring that users needed to sign in before accessing the main 3D experience.
We built an internal portal for EmpathED administrators that gave them greater control over and visibility into their user base, providing them with real-time user metrics and easy account management for new and existing clients.
We enhanced EmpathED's product offering for educators by auto-generating certificates of completion for users upon successfully finishing the EmpathED curriculum.
We created a more standardized, visually appealing design for the quizzes within EmpathED's curriculum, making it easier for users to take quizzes, view results, and receive certificates.
The new EmpathED platform was deployed and launched in late 2024.
New refinements are still being made to the EmpathED website, and we will continue to release new features going forward.
EmpathED is an immersive virtual platform in which educators can explore and learn how to interact effectively and empathetically with students with different disabilities and diagnoses. The platform guides educators through interactive learning experiences and different training modules, covering topics ranging from dyslexia to depression.
